CRESCENT Meeting at USGS Subduction Zone Science Workshop

Meeting Goals

CRESCENT Annual Meeting

CRESCENT will hold a 1-day meeting adjacent to the USGS Subduction Zone Science Meeting, in order to:

1)  Foster collaboration between our working groups and special interest groups;
2) Bridge gaps, and increase communication among subduction zone research groups; and
3) Identify and encourage synergistic collaborative activities between CRESCENT and the USGS.

Travel & Lodging

Venue

This CRESCENT Annual Meeting will be held at Alder Hall (1315 NE Campus Pkwy, Seattle, WA 98105), University of Washington, Seattle, WA on January 10, 2025. 

Flights, ground transportation and parking

U District Light Rail station is 0.3 miles north of Alder Hall, directly across the street from Graduate Seattle hotel, and is served by regular 1LINE trains from SeaTac airport.

The following bus lines have routes that pass near Alder Hall: 255, 271, 372, 49, 70

Lodging

Graduate Seattle (4507 Brooklyn Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105) is CRESCENT’s host hotel for overnight guests. U District Light Rail station is, directly across the street from Graduate Seattle hotel, and is served by regular 1LINE trains from SeaTac airport.


The Graduate has complimentary bike rentals available for guests. The bike includes a lock and there are bike racks near Alder Hall.

12:35-1:40 CRESCENT Offshore Observations SIG Meeting (University of Washington, Husky Union Building, Room 160)

The CRESCENT Offshore Observations SIG (https://cascadiaquakes.org/offshoreobservations/) seeks to gather broad community input on offshore observational needs and priorities in Cascadia and identify specific areas for accelerated progress through coordination and the development of collaborations. This interactive lunchtime session will introduce the SIG and its planned activities for the coming year,  and will also feature an update on SZ4D’s planning for offshore observations in Cascadia and Alaska.

Please grab lunch in the HUB foodcourt and join us in HUB Lyceum Room 160.
